Elderberry Syrup is a super delicious way to protect yourself (and your family) during the cold and flu season, to help ward off sickness and germs.  However, Elderberry Syrup is not shelf stable and must be kept in the refrigerator.  Therefore, we don't sell it here at Cattail.  We have though, shared the recipe we use to make it at home, on several social media platforms!  You can find that recipe right here in the product photos.  That means, you don't even need to buy this listing!  Just view the photograph!  You can follow the recipe to a tee or merely use it as a starting point. Elderberry Syrup is suuuuuper flexible. In fact, I don’t even follow it perfectly. This time I swapped out the orange peel for lemon peel and threw in a couple star anise pods in place of the allspice (since my husband can’t stand the stuff.) If you have trouble sourcing the extra ingredients, you can just leave then out. All you REALLY need is the elderberries, the water and the honey!

I did though have A LOT of folks say that they wanted to follow the recipe, or at least include most of it, and were having a hard time sourcing small enough quantities of the ingredients.  Folks didn't want to have to buy several ounces to a pound of each item when only a tablespoon was needed. So with this "kit" you will receive a pouch containing all the berries and spices you'll need, plus printed instructions!

Pouch contains a pre-measured mix of dried elderberries, dried ginger root, dried orange peel, dried whole rose hips, whole clove buds, star anise and a cinnamon stick.

You will need to supply the water, lemon juice (if using,) honey (or sweetener substitute such as maple syrup or agave) and storage container (such as a quart-sized mason jar or a couple 16-oz amber glass bottles.)
