Vinegar of the Unfallen // Four Thieves Herbal Vinegar
Four Thieves Vinegar (with a slightly more ridiculous name) - Vinegar of the Unfallen
In a similar fashion to our Queen of Hungary's Water, this recipe comes encased in folklore and mystery. The story goes that in the late middle ages during the pandemic of bubonic plague known as The Black Death, a group of four thieves made a fortune stealing from the bodies of the dead. When they were eventually arrested and sentenced to death, they were given the chance to live/have their freedom if they divulged whatever secret method had kept them alive and plague-free. The tonic/heal potion they used came to be known as Four Thieves Vinegar. There are as many recipes for the vinegar as there are tellings of this tale. Ours in made of organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with the mother) infused with garlic, rosemary, sage, thyme and oregano - herbs that have all been used traditionally for their antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal and antiseptic actions.
Take straight or mix with honey. May also be added to tea, used to flavor water or try it on salad! As Hippocrates said: "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."
You can dilute with water 1:1 and use as a natural cleaner!!
